Legal
Terms of use
Version of 8 August 2026.
Courtesy translation. This English text is provided so that you can read the terms in your own language. In case of any discrepancy, only the French version is legally binding. The contract is governed by French law (article 15).
These terms govern the use of the Cartano service, whether that use is free or paid. The terms of the sale — prices, invoicing, terminating a subscription — are in the terms of sale.
1. Publisher and acceptance
The Cartano service, accessible at cartano.app, is published by Ecobeez Consulting, a simplified joint-stock company whose registered office is at 4 bis rue du Bel Air, 95560 Montsoult, France — SIREN 515 181 691. The full particulars are on the legal notice page.
Creating an account or accessing a workspace constitutes acceptance of these terms. If you access the service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind it.
2. Definitions
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Customer | The organisation holding the account, or the individual when acting in an independent professional capacity. |
| Workspace | The unit of content partitioning. A piece of content belongs to one workspace and one only. |
| Author | A user who creates or modifies a document or an asset. |
| Reader | A user who views, comments and exports, without modifying. Readers are never counted. |
| Content | The models, documents, assets, repositories, comments and files uploaded by the Customer or its users. |
3. The alpha programme
Cartano is currently in alpha. Access is free, named and guided. This phase calls for reservations we would rather write down:
- The service may be interrupted without notice for fixes or updates.
- Functions may appear, change shape or disappear.
- No commitment on availability, performance or time to fix is made during the alpha.
- We expect feedback from you — needs, defects, misunderstandings. That is the consideration for the access, and it is not binding.
Two guarantees, on the other hand, apply from the alpha onwards and depend on no plan: your content belongs to you (article 6), and the complete export is available at any time (article 9). We do not ask you to entrust data to a service you could not get out of.
The alpha is not an acceptance release. We advise against putting a production repository into it if you do not hold a copy elsewhere, until the beta opens.
4. Access, account and security
Access is by single sign-on to the Centaur Cortex platform, published by the same company. Credentials are personal: they are not shared, including between colleagues in the same workspace. An additional access is opened from the workspace; it is not lent.
You are responsible for the confidentiality of your password and for the actions carried out from your account. Report any use you did not authorise without delay: contact@ecobeez.fr.
The service logs who changed what and when. That log is append-only by design — which is what gives it audit value — and it is neither exploited for commercial purposes nor disclosed to third parties.
5. Permitted use
The service is intended for professional modelling and mapping use. The following are prohibited:
- Uploading unlawful content, or content to which you do not hold the rights.
- Any attempt to access a workspace that has not been opened to you, or to circumvent its partitioning.
- Reverse engineering of the service, outside the cases the law makes unwaivable.
- A volume of automated calls liable to degrade the service for other customers.
- Resale or provision of the service to a third party, save with written agreement — a consultancy working for its clients in partitioned workspaces does not fall within this case; that is an intended use.
Uploading sensitive personal data or health data into the content is not catered for by the service as it stands and is a matter for your own judgement alone. Cartano models information systems; it is not intended to host the data those systems process.
6. Your content belongs to you
You retain all your rights in your content. You grant us only the licence strictly necessary to perform the service — host, display, back up, restore, export — for the duration of your access and no longer.
Three commitments follow from that, and they are firm:
- Your content is not used to train a model, neither ours nor a third party's.
- It is not analysed for commercial purposes, nor sold, nor rented.
- The library of reference models never draws on customer content. A model only enters it by explicit, written and anonymised contribution.
7. Agent workshop
When you launch an agent, the brief you write and the content of the document concerned are transmitted to the language model provider in order to produce a draft. No other content from your workspace is transmitted. The detail is in the privacy policy.
An agent produces a draft subject to your review, never a deliverable. Its output is probabilistic: it may be incomplete or wrong, and the product gives you the means to see that — the conformity checks apply to the result, every action is undoable and the log keeps a record. The decision to keep an output remains yours, and we cannot be held liable for generated content that you published without reviewing it.
The workshop can remain entirely disabled: the rest of the product works without it.
8. Intellectual property in the service
The service, its code, its interfaces, its trade marks and its documentation remain the exclusive property of Ecobeez Consulting. These terms grant you only a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use, for the duration of your access.
ArchiMate and TOGAF are trade marks of The Open Group; BPMN and UML are trade marks of the Object Management Group. These notations are implemented for interoperability purposes; their proprietors are neither partners nor endorsers of Cartano.
9. Reversibility
The complete export of the workspace — documents, repository, layouts — is a function of the product, available at any time, on every plan and during free alpha access. The format is documented and the Git mirror produces files that are readable without Cartano.
We never make an export conditional on settling an account, on notice, or on a request to support. Leaving the service must not be a matter for negotiation.
10. Availability and maintenance
Outside the alpha (article 3), the service is provided on a best-efforts basis. Interruptions for maintenance may occur; we announce them when we plan them. A quantified service commitment is obtained only by contract, on the plans that provide for it.
11. Personal data
The processing operations, their legal bases, retention periods, sub-processors and your rights are described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms. Data is hosted in France.
12. Term, suspension and deletion
These terms apply for as long as you hold an access. We may suspend an access in the event of a characterised breach of article 5, or of a threat to the security of the service — after informing you, save in an emergency.
When a workspace is closed, its content is deleted, audit log included. A technical retention period applies before the final erasure of backups: [TO BE COMPLETED: backup retention period, e.g. 30 days]. After that period restoration is no longer possible — export before closing.
13. Liability
We are answerable for direct damage attributable to us. Indirect damage is excluded — loss of operations, of revenue, of customers or of reputation. For free access, our liability is limited to the strict minimum the law leaves standing; for a paid subscription, it is capped under the conditions set out in the terms of sale.
None of these limitations applies in the event of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or of personal injury.
14. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Any substantial change is notified to you by email thirty days before it takes effect. If it does not suit you, you may close your access during that period — taking your content with you.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties will seek an amicable solution before any action. Failing agreement, jurisdiction is attributed to the courts of [TO BE COMPLETED: city of Ecobeez Consulting's trade register], including for interim proceedings and where there are several defendants.
